PSG imposes 3 new rules in the dressing room to discipline its players

Nasser Al-Khelaifi made it clear before the arrival of new coach Christophe Galtier that some things would change in the team. The challenge in the star-studded squad was realizing that the club would be above everyone else, whether it was Neymar, Messi, Mbappe or Ramos.

At the technical director’s first press conference, the message was undoubtedly in that direction. Backed by Luis Campos, the new sporting director with whom he has maintained a close relationship since his time at Lille, the coach made it clear that he would not slacken his decision-making process.

But after the words, it was necessary to move on to actions. The fact is that since the tour that Paris Saint-Germain is already in Japan, the coach applies new rules in the dressing room, which were first agreed upon with Luis Campos himself and then analyzed by the coach with the players themselves.

Sources within PSG confirm to Marca that almost all of these rules are meant to put more emphasis on discipline. This is the most important.

Whoever is late comes home

Those who have been able to roam the Camp des Loges, Paris Saint-Germain’s training center, in recent seasons have seen how the arrival times of players have not been politely controlled. Of course, the delay meant a fine. With Galtier, you will have to arrive at the bootcamp between 8:30 and 8:45 am. And whoever arrives late and for no reason will not enter and will have to go home.

No cell phones during meals

For breakfast and lunch, players will not be able to use their mobile phones. Galtier and Campos want a more fluid relationship between the team, although both emphasized that the players make up a good group. But they consider that in order to foster a good atmosphere, they should live together more and consider meals as a time to joke and share experiences together.

Breakfast and lunch at Camp des Logs

It is a measure that will be installed more easily and above all more comfortably when the new sports city is ready, which includes the residence of the first team and the youth academy in the city of Poissy. But Galtier already made it clear that breakfast and lunch would be required at the Camp des Loges on most days.

In recent years, in the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room, the team has been divided into clans or groups: South America with Messi and Neymar, Mbappe and Achraf group, Ramos and Keylor Navas group …

Good typical response

In the first weeks of cohabitation, the club confirmed the positive response of the team, and Neymar’s response and commitment drew attention. Despite the fact that the club put it up for sale this summer, Galtier is determined to get the best out of the Brazilian and appears ready to strike back at his coach.

The coach confirmed the change in the rules: “There will be rules of coexistence that I will present to the group. There will be things that are negotiable, and others that are not. I will speak with the players because the obligations of the players outside the sport must be taken into account, but the very strict rules must be respected.”

He concluded: “It will happen naturally. We’re not in the army either. I would never make a decision without considering the opinion of others. The most important thing is that my boss and the sports department support me. The locker room needs justice and discipline for the benefit of all. Group discipline is the key to success.”
