Four players compete to impress Ancelotti in Real Madrid’s pre-season tour

On Tuesday, in addition to 24 first-team players, Carlo Ancelotti chose four Castilla players to board the plane for Real Madrid’s pre-season tour in the United States.

The four youngsters selected are goalkeepers Luis Lopez and Lucas Canizares, right-back Vinicius Tobias and striker Juanmi Latasa.

The four, along with new signings Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Chuamini, will join the Champions League winners on their pre-season tour.

Here’s everything you need to know about the four youngsters in Real Madrid’s pre-season tour:

Luis Lopez (2001)

Luis Lopez stands out due to his tall and strong physique. At the age of 21, he is the veteran goalkeeper against Castilla, led by Raul, and in 2020 he won the youth league with the youth team A.

Last season, Lopez played 14 matches with the reserve team and conceded 15 goals.

Lopez is also an international with Spain’s youth teams up to the under-19 level and has developed a close relationship with Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Lucas Canizares (2002)

Lucas Canizares (1.88m), son of former international goalkeeper Santi Canizares, was signed in 2014. A serious knee injury in the summer of 2021 hampered his progress, and he did not participate in matches until March 2022.

Despite these setbacks, his presence in California attests to how much confidence he has in his potential. This season, he will fight with Luis Lopez and Mario De Luis for a key position in the Castilla team.

Vinicius Tobias (2004)

Tobias was signed on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this year. The right-back was allowed to leave the Ukrainian club on loan after the Russian invasion of the country and will remain in Madrid until 2023. Then, Real Madrid have the option of making the transfer permanent for €18 million.

Tobias is described as very Brazilian and loves to advance as a full-back.

Tobias has also been described as a sponge by those who watched him train, referring to the fact that he is always looking for tips on how to improve his game.

Juanmi Latasa (2001)

Trained at Union Adarvi, Latasa made a huge splash in 2020, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in 30 games en route to winning the Youth League.

Ancelotti called him previously for the matches of the 23rd and 33rd round, and finally in the 37th round. Latazza played his first match for Real Madrid in the 81st minute against Cadiz in their 1-1 draw.

In the 2022/23 season, Latata will alternate between Castilla and the first team.
