In the final phase of the 21/22 season, Dani Carvajal was one of Real Madrid’s most outstanding players. Growing up in Leganes, the player has been very important to the Whites in recent league matches and in the exciting knockout matches this season in the Champions League.
Gone are the constant injuries suffered by the Real Madrid player that made him miss matches a lot, especially in the past two years. In the final phase of the season, Carvajal showed that the best version of him was back and that, with him, Real Madrid had one of the best right-backs in the world in his squad.
For this reason, the club is not expected to sign another right-back because they consider that with Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez, this position is well covered. However, the signing of Reece James for the summer of 2023 is also not excluded, with the aim of competing between the three players.
Despite his excellent finish to the season, in which he was also the player of the year in the Champions League final against Liverpool after Thibaut Courtois, where he managed to control Luis Diaz and not let him breathe at all, Carvajal’s market value has not stopped declining. He was expected to drop in the last two years due to the few matches he has played due to injuries.
It peaked in December 2018, with a value of €60 million. Since then, the decline did not stop until this season, reaching in March 2022 to 18 million, he was not even among the 30 most expensive right-backs in the world, ranking 32.
Real Madrid cannot explain this decline in the price of Carvajal, who, despite his 30th birthday, his end of the season deserves to increase his value significantly.
However, this does not worry the club at all, because they know that with his performance, there are few right-backs at his level, and it would not be necessary, at least for the time being, to sign another player in his position.
