Real Madrid follows Brazilian football closely. At the White Castle they already have experience signing young players from Brazil so they can grow up and explode at the White Club. Such was the case with Vinicius and Rodrygo Goes, two players who arrived as rising talents and then showed their best performances with the 14-time European champion.
Brazilian media reported that the name “Luis Guilherme” has been in the spotlight in Madrid and is now on their agenda. The promising 16-year-old Palmeiras midfielder signed his first professional contract with his team on Tuesday until 2025 with a 60 million euro penalty clause to immunize him against Real.
The Brazilian, and his agent Nick Arcuri, the most important scout in Brazil, shares a representative with Rodrygo and two pearls from the Atletico Youth Academy (Javier Bonnar and Paco Esteban). Guilherme is an attacking midfielder who has the ability to see the goal and help his teammates. He plays with the left foot and wears the number “10” jersey on his back, and he has already distinguished himself with the Brazilian Under-17 team.
Gilherme was raised in schools in Aracaju, his hometown, and arrived in Palmeiras in 2017 to continue growing. Indrik’s classmate agrees to stay for three years in his country, the maximum allowed by law, when he reaches legal age. Despite his young age, he managed to win the Copina Grand Prix in January, including attendance, and the U-17 Tournament in Montaijo (France) in which he scored three goals.
Guilherme: “No kid in Brazil can say he doesn’t want to play for Madrid”
Luis Guilherme spoke to AS from Brazil and talked about his compatriots Vinicius and Rodrygo, as well as Real Madrid’s interest in him and his idols.
Who is your idol?
One of the ones I’ve seen playing is Messi, because he’s left-handed like me, and Neymar, who’s still very special to us, the younger generation. I grew up watching them play and I think they are part of my training as a player.
What do you think of Vinicius and Rodrygo?
I think Vinicius and Rodrygo are going to be world football stars, and I really hope they will be. It’s not easy for young Brazilians to play for one of the biggest teams in the world. I have seen some interviews with them. When they were younger, they said it was their dream to play with Neymar in the national team, and they were able to make it happen. For us, the younger ones, it is now our dream to be with Vinicius and Rodrygo in a few years time. I hope I can achieve it like them.
What do you think that Real Madrid is following you closely?
Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and no boy in Brazil can say he doesn’t like playing there. I’m glad to know that at a very young age, some of the biggest teams in the world are following me, but honestly, I’m not worried. My only goal today is to continue to develop and learn as a Palmeiras player, and to remain in the Brazilian team so that I can play in the upcoming competitions in South America and the world. If I do well, I am sure that I will be able to fulfill all my dreams as a footballer.
