Real Madrid see from afar how one of the gems that have grown in their academy triumphs away from them. This is the case of Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, the left-back born in Mallorca in 2003, who fought in the lower categories at Racing de Ferrol and Deportivo de La Coruna and who in 2017 joined Real Madrid, with a potential future in the first team. But in the summer of 2020, he changed course and left the white club to go to Manchester United, where he is now winning.

The English side have just named Fernandes as the best player in their Under-23 team, which competes in Premier League 2, England’s reserve league. Significant success for a player who is only 19 years old (he did so in March) and a regular starter for the Spanish Under-19 team.
Fernandez, a full-back and has the ability to play on both sides, although his preferred position is the left, played 32 games this season, in which he scored four goals and provided six assists, which are interesting numbers for the defender, which shows his offensive career.
He has been so highlighted by so much that Rangnick has noticed, and in the last three days of the Premier League, he has been called up with the first team. He has yet to make his senior debut for United, but at this rate it is only a matter of time before he does, possibly for the remainder of the season.
The coach United have chosen for next season, Tin Hag, will play an important role in his future: the Ajax coach has a tendency to promote players from the academy, loves the quality of deep-backs and long distances, something Alvaro enjoys and is very much in line with the school Ajax has always championed.
