Before his departure.. Marcelo nominates his successor in Real Madrid to Florentino Perez

Sources close to Real Madrid confirmed to the Defence Central network that Marcelo informed Florentino on more than one occasion that Miguel Gutierrez might be his heir in the left-back position after his departure. He sees that he is able to present his testimony in this position because talent is not lacking.

Competition, a little luck, the mentality… There are not a few things that determine whether or not a player can make his career at Real Madrid. The club is interested in training players from the academy in the first team.

During these last years, which coincided with the emergence of Miguel Gutierrez, Marcelo reinforced this idea. There was already a lot of talk in Valdebebas about the youngster playing in the youth team, but he saw it for himself.

He works with him every day and acts like an athletic father and the relationship between them is exceptional. Marcelo never doubted the young man who got up to take his job: “It’s the law of life,” says the Brazilian, laughing.

Marcelo is now dedicating himself to enjoying his final months at Real Madrid. He’s almost got an educational job, but it’s something he carries naturally. It would not be difficult for the captain to give up the captaincy because, as he often repeats, “our team will continue to win”.
