Communication is ongoing at Real Madrid and the club’s managers and coach are in constant contact, analyzing the present as well as what is to come, in further evidence of the confidence that exists in Carlo Ancelotti’s work.
On Friday, there was another meeting between Florentino Perez and Ancelotti to discuss plans and ideas for the summer Mercato and the next season.
The team needs reinforcements for next season, but these will only come through potential sales. There is no other way. Efforts are focused on what everyone considers offensive priorities, with Kylian Mbappe taking first and Erling Haaland as the outliers.
real madrid sales
If there are no sales, there won’t be any new faces, but the club is confident there will be a knockout effect and that several players, in addition to Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Isco, could leave for between €75 and €100m to fund additional signings. This is also the case for the likes of Taki Kubo, Ibrahim Diaz and Rainier, who will all return from loan spells.
The best example of this is what happened last summer with Eduardo Camavinga and what could happen this summer with Monaco midfielder Aurelien Chuamini.
With the former Rennes player, a lot of work was done on the ground for several months. A deal seemed impossible given other priorities, but the final days of the transfer window saw Camavinga available and Los Blancos signed him on their final market day on August 30.
If Chwamini waits, the situation may recur, but now there is no offer as he heads towards the Premier League.
Real Madrid reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, as well as topping the La Liga standings, something few expected last summer when only Camavinga and David Alaba were signed.
But Ancelotti and the players are Real Madrid’s engineers who got to this point with a title already in the bag in May, the defining moment of the season.
Since last summer, Mbappe’s name has appeared in all conversations about the future of the Real Madrid team. So much so that many plans are conditioned on the expected arrival of the Frenchman.
Half the team is in place, Mbappe arrives…
The past few matches have shown the quality of players like Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, Camavinga, Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao and Fede Valverde (none of them are over 24 years old).
Luka Modric (who will continue for another year) continues to impress, as do Toni Kroos, Nacho Fernandez, Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal… players who have been and will continue to be key players at Real Madrid.
Doubts revolve around the depth of the team. The success came with some skepticism and it was time to determine if there were really solutions within the team.
There is confidence in some of the academy players, such as Antonio Blanco and Rafa Marin and young players in their formative years such as Bruno Iglesias, Alex Jimenez or Marvel, but the coaching staff does not mind adding a new center back, while Fran Garcia is likely to return from Rayo Vallecano as an option in the center left back.
Militao, Camavinga, Valverde, Rodrygo and Vinicius guarantee half of a squad for the next decade, but the present includes making some changes outside of Mbappe, who will become part of that backbone for years to come.
Real Madrid know signings are essential, but they won’t come without sales.
