Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi gave an interview to Telefoot in which he reviewed the current situation of the Parisian team and also took the opportunity to acknowledge the relationship he has with Mbappe. The former Real Madrid player confirmed that everything is spontaneous with the Paris Saint-Germain star and hopes to continue next season in Paris.
Achraf Hakimi said: “My relationship with Mbappe? It was spontaneous. From the day I arrived, when you meet someone like him, your same age, with the same personality…we are two kids. Everything is fluid, it is normal”, admitted Ashraf, who has become one of Mbappe’s best friends since his arrival in June 2021 in the French capital.
And on the possible departure of the French striker to Real Madrid, Ashraf added that he wants Mbappe to continue in Paris next season, although he will be the player with the last word regarding his future: “Mbappe is one of the best players in the world and he is my friend. I want him to stay here and he knows it. He will decide what he thinks is best for his career and I will support him.”
Regarding tonight’s Clasico against Olympique de Marseille, he added: “I know there are special expectations and a lot of competition. I’ve tested it before. It is a match that can decide the fate of the tournament. Our fans deserve this win and this tenth tournament. We’ve had a really bad few weeks. It’s hard when your fans don’t support you. Beating Marseille is the best we can do to keep them cheering for us until the end of the season.”
In the end, Ashraf spoke about the early elimination of Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the Champions League: “It is difficult to realize that we are eliminated from the Champions League. We had mechanisms to move forward. The truth is, I can’t explain it. Even today, when I think about it, I don’t get it. I understand the fans are sad, and so are we. At this level, the small details make the difference, we have to correct them next year. This is what will make us heroes.”
