Real Madrid fans can already plan their next purchase. It has already been revealed what number Kylian Mbappe will wear when he joins Real Madrid on a free transfer next June.
It’s no surprise that Mbappe wears the number 7. It’s his favorite number, the number he’s worn with PSG since his second season (taking it back after the departure of Lucas Moura). “Adidas has already agreed with Florentino Perez that the French football star will wear the number 7,” Spanish website Diario Gol reported.
Currently wearing the number 7 Eden Hazard, his future in Madrid is very uncertain. But the idea, of course, is that Mbappe is following in the footsteps of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d’Or is a far cry from the only great player to have worn the number 7, the legendary at Real Madrid, as at Manchester United.
It’s hard not to think of Raúl, the team’s second-best scorer in history, or Emilio Butragueño. But the first player to make the glory of this No. 7 was Mbappe’s compatriot, Raymond Kopa, the first Frenchman to win the Ballon d’Or in 1958, and he won the Champions League three times.
