Another “Alaba case” looming between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich

The transfer market repeats the scenario of David Alaba moving from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid again. The Austrian defense center left behind more than a contract in Munich after he failed to reach an agreement to renew his contract with the German club, a situation that Real Madrid exploited to offer a big offer for the player (12 million net salary per season) to replace Sergio Ramos and lead the new white defense along with Militao.

A process that went well for Real Madrid: Alaba adapted to the white club from day one, his relationship with Militao is fantastic and both are showing a very good level so far this season. The Austrian arrived at the club for free, although large sums had to be paid in terms of commissions and transfer bonuses, but in short it was a very useful process that Real Madrid would like to repeat.

In this context, the name of Serge Gnabry appears, a Bayern Munich winger whose contract expires in June 2023 and is already negotiating the option to renew with the Bavarian club. But according to the German “Sport1”, the negotiations are very far apart: Gnabry wants a salary of about 15 million gross (about 7.5 net per season) and they believe in Bayern that it is not at a sufficient level to ask for these amounts.

The German club is very strict when it comes to salaries: if a player does not adapt to the established standards, there is no problem opening the door to a free transfer or departure at the end of his contract.

Alaba, Goretzka, Janabri…

Gnabry wants to earn as much as Koeman and Sane, who at that point totaled 15 million, although Bayern believes he has not established himself as a starting player and therefore does not deserve that salary: 2019-20 was his best season, with 21 A goal, but last year he only had 10. This season, he’s already scored 12 goals, he’s getting better.

But it seems that this is not enough for Bayern Munich, and in this context Real Madrid appears, according to “Sport1”, who will be attentive to the situation even if Gnabry is released in 2023 and then contracted with him as he already did with David Alaba.

And it’s not the only recent case: Real Madrid were already considering the situation of Leon Goretzka, a Bayern midfielder whose contract expired in June 2022 and who entered the 2021-22 season without a deal and in distant locations, asking for a salary of 15 million for renewal.

Madrid also told the midfielder’s environment that if he left Bayern for free, the club could reach the goals Goretzka wanted, but in the end Bayern raised his proposal and renewed the player until 2026. Now, Real Madrid have their sights set on Gnabry.
