Real Madrid changes its plans for Asensio and Ceballos

With a week left until the start of the official Real Madrid season with the European Super Cup, everything indicates that there will not be many changes, Carlo Ancelotti’s team, who said earlier during the preparatory tour of the United States: “The team is closed, we are better than last season.”

Since these words, the only new thing was the departure of Borja Mayoral, selling him to Getafe for 10 million euros. Now the only players who have a chance to leave are Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Odriozola. Both were not included in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and Real Madrid expect them to leave before the transfer market closes.

The situation is different for the other players who were initially on the verge of leaving: Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos. Both contracts expire in a year, in June 2023, and at the moment there is no evidence that Real Madrid have offered them a renewal.

At the White Club, they planned to try to make money off their sale but no offers were made to either of them. Teams such as Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester United and Milan have shown interest in Marco Asensio but have not gone further and far from putting the 30m Real Madrid requested in exchange for the player, Asensio now appears determined to stay until the end of his contract and then leave for free.

Dani Ceballos, on the other hand, is only thinking of returning to Real Betis, but the economic situation of his former team, with financial fair play problems, makes his arrival at Benito Villamarin impossible for the time being. Real Madrid estimated the midfielder at 15 million euros.

The continuity of Ceballos and Asensio is not a problem for Carlo Ancelotti, who wants both although in principle they will not be key in his squad. The midfielder is finding it difficult to get a chance to participate with Kroos, Modric, Camavinga and Valverde in front of him, but he is confident that the opportunity will come throughout the season.

For his part, Asensio lost his place in the squad at the end of last year to Rodrygo, but according to the newspaper “AS”, he hopes to regain his place with the aim of getting a place in Luis Enrique’s list with the Spain national team in the World Cup.
